Halloween Safety - Peanut Allergy

Around Halloween time children are tempted with extra goodies and sometimes new food and candy.  Peanut allergy can occur suddenly in small children.  Lots of candy and snacks contain peanuts and peanut products.  Many products as well are made in factories where peanuts are process even though your product does not contain peanuts.  Sometimes the same equipment is used for various products.  Read labels carefully to be safe!

Do not put a mask on a child which will obstruct the child's vision.  Face paint is additionally a much better option.

It is best to take your children trick or treating for Halloween only to places where you know the people who live there.  Travel on well lit streets, and always have a parent or trusted adult go with the little ones.  A flashlight is good to have along for drives and steps.  Caution the children to not run.

Save Money with Coupons $$$$$$$

Saving money when we shop by utilizing coupons is not a new idea.  And many of us think about doing it and can find it hard to set aside the time to do it on a regular basis.  But once you get in the habit and realize the savings, it CAN become routine.  A great source of good value coupons is the Sunday newspaper.  They seem to be adding quite a few inserts to each paper.  It only takes a few minutes to cut them out and easily save $5.00 on your next rtrip to the store.  Give your unused coupons to a friend.

Flamingo Lagoon: Now Open at the Nashville Zoo

The Nashville Zoo’s newest exhibit is the Flamingo Lagoon, with a flock of 30 Caribbean flamingos. According to the Nashville Zoo, these are the largest and most brightly colored of the species. The exhibit is located between Critter Encounters and the Tapir exhibit. The exhibit opening was delayed due to the flood earlier this year in Nashville. The Caribbean flamingos are beautiful with their vibrant pink and orange feathers, and long legs and necks. Children love to view these magnificent animals. There are some shaded areas in which they can be viewed, so this makes it nice for the little ones and family members and friends when they visit. You can even take your own snacks and lunch into the zoo, or purchase food and beverages while there. You can as well take your own stroller or wagon, or rent a stroller.  They have a wonderful playground too. There are several spots to stop and rest and eat too. www.nashvilllezoo.org

As fall clothing colors are trending towards darker colors, accessories are a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to spruce up children's wardrobes during the changing seasons.  Lots of hair gear is showing up for girls - from infants to teens.  This burnt orange crochet hat is a favorite with moms.

Halloween is a time for make believe for little children.  This year there are once again going to be a lot of little princesses and fairies abound along with pirates and all sorts of adorable animals.

We have had a few requests lately for infant and toddler lace socks - we have them to fit infant girls through toddlers.  These hard to find socks have the ruffled lace edge - and many have bows with tiny pearls and various colored bows.  Very pretty to wear to church, for pictures and pageants!  For little boys we have various colored striped socks.  They can be worn with shoes or just the socks!  

Fall Crochet Hats

Included in our 20% OFF Hair Accessory SALE is our collection of custom made ruffled edge and plain edge hats.  These hats are available for both boys and girls, from infant to school age.  They come in many colors. In the picture is our ruffled edge girls' hat with a hair bow on an alligator clip - the bow can be removed to wear on one of our other hats, directly in the hair, or on one of our crochet head bands.  Another bow or flower clip can be added to the hat to give it a different look.

Added to our selection of custom made pillowcase dresses is our fall paisley design.  This dress is fully lined and is pictured with lime colored ribbons at the shoulders - you can special order one too.  Other colors of shoulder ribbons available.

Another Paisley Clothing Collection at Anna's

Just a couple of days ago we added another fall collection of pretty paisley custom made clothes, they are on display and have received positive feedback from our customers.  We will take special orders on this line too if you need a different size, give us about a week and your order will be ready for you to pick up.  Pictures is the paisley petal tie dress.  It is fully lined, and can be worn with or without a blouse as the weather dictates.

Busy Weekend

What a busy weekend this has been at the store!  Several of the custom items which just went on display today are already sold!  Our littlest model is wearing a crocheted ruffled edge hat with one of our fancy flower clips - both items custom made for Anna's.  The hats come in several sizes and colors, and we have so many flower clips and hair bows which can be mixed and matched with these hats, other hats and headbands in the store.  Another of our young models came to the store today, and her mom picked out some hair accessories for her too.

Fall Fashions at Anna's

Yesterday was a busy day at Anna's Boutique, and many customers looked at our custom fall line of coordinated outfits and accessories.   A lot of work was put into the design of these clothes to offer something unique to Anna's!  They really liked the appliqued posie design which is the mainstay of this line.  As well, they liked the mix and match pantaloons which can be added to the dresses when the temperatures cool off down the road.  The colors are sage green, and shades of brown with a hint of blue.  One of the more unique dresses is the apron knot dress for toddlers - with five posies and bloomers - yes, the bloomers have the cute posies as well to make them special.  And the toddler boy jon-jons coordinate with the girls' clothing.  They are completely lined, have snap crotched, and adorable brown pockets on the chest area which is perfect for monogramming.  Many coordinated accessories are available to complete these outfits - including our custom crochet ruffled brim hats- which hair bows and flower clips can be added to them.  Boy's brown crochet hats will be available too!

Hair Accessories

Many schools now have a required dress code for the students.  We have hair accessories in white, navy, black, khaki, blue and other basic colors which fit the dress code.  And for other times and for those without a dress code, our new fall collection of hair accessories is extensive, which fits infants to adult.  We like the stretchy crochet heabands, hats and caps - they are soft on the head and our bows and flower clips are so easily adaptable on them.  Our newly arrived custom made crochet hats have turned up brims as well as beautiful ruffled edge brims and come in a variety of colors. 

Our fall line of custom designed and made for Anna's custom clothing has arrived and is on display at the store - including acccessories too - coordinated purses, flower clips, and hair bows.  We are pleased to be able to offer some  little boys' custom clothes in this collection as well.

Our Smocked Twin Sailboat Preemie Boy Rompers have just arrived, they are so cute - there is one blue one and one matching pale yellow one.  It is sometimes a challenge to find something cute to put tiny babies in - and these outfits solve that issue.  They are beautiful portrail outfits.  We have a good selection of smocked children's cloting - for both boys and girls, preemie to size 6.

Taste of Ebenezer Festival

What fun it was to participate in the Taste of Ebenezer Festival today.  The food was plentiful, tasty, and going fast.  Kudos to the outdoor vendors who withstood the 100 degree temperature today.  Our booth was inside, and our focal point was our hair accessories,tutus, pettiskirts; and baby layette - including our custom made burp towels.  Our door prize drawing winner is J. Hurst.  It was good to see old friends there - Julia Hickman had her beautiful lia sophia jewelry on display.   

Taste of Ebenezer Festival

Anna's will have a booth at the Ebenezer Church's "Taste of Ebenezer" festival on Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.  There will be chicken, meatloaf, hot dogs and Polish Sausages, Casseroles, vegetables, salads, breads and rolls, drinks, desserts and homeade ice cream; Holy Smoke's BBQ and Ribs to temp your tastebuds.  Lots of local vendors for shopping as well as entertainment for the entire family.

Anna's will have specials on hair accessories, tutus, pettiskirts, clothes, gifts and accessories as well as a door prize drawing.  Hope to see you there!

Our new shipment of hand crafted baby quilts has arrived.  These are such a wonderful addition to our custom one-of-a-kind hand crafted boutique items in the store - no machine stitching on these quilts.  They can be used on a crib, or as a wall hanging to decorate a nursey or play room.
